M.Ed. (Counselling), LCT-C
Licensed Counselling Therapist-Candidate
Hello! My name is Whitney. I am a Licensed Counselling Therapist Candidate. I know starting therapy can be both hard and beautiful. It is my hope that the space we share together is one where you can feel comfortable to explore what is important to you. My style is gentle, trauma-informed and guided by radical acceptance. My role is to provide a space where you can dive a little deeper into life’s challenges… a space where you can explore your inner world, learn to tend to what’s hard, and discover your joys.
I work with a wide range of experiences, including childhood trauma, stress and burnout, anxiety, grief, and relational difficulties. I have a special interest in working with people who have experienced trauma, and this inspired me to seek further training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR is a unique, evidence-based therapy that can help process difficult memories and experiences. I also draw on mindfulness, self-compassion, parts work, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and somatic-based practices.
I work from a social justice lens, which considers the wider systems that influence our wellbeing, like poverty, racism, transphobia, and other forms of oppression. I am committed to ethics, continued learning, self-care, and practicing under supervision to show up for you in the way you deserve.
