Jill Connors

M.A. (Counselling Psychology), LCT, C.C.C.

Licensed Counselling Therapist

Canadian Certified Counsellor

I have completed my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University in 2021. I also hold a Bachelor of Science (Major in Psychology) degree from Mount Allison University, as well as a diploma in Addictions Community Outreach from Nova Scotia Community College.

My journey through life has drawn me towards better understanding how we respond to our internal experiences – our thoughts, sensations, urges, memories, and emotions.  This journey for me is still ongoing, and has been shaped by wonderful people that have guided me along the way.

Outside of work, I enjoy being active and soaking in what nature has to offer.  I love exploring trails, practicing yoga, rollerskating, and snowshoeing.   I equally enjoy slowing down and relaxing by enjoying a cup of coffee, meditating, reading a good book, or simply listening to the wind in the trees!

In working together, I aim to provide a calming environment and a safe relationship to explore what is important to you. I believe that you learn best from your own experiences and reflections.  I offer a compassionate perspective to encourage flexibility in your relationship with yourself.

My approach to counselling is trauma informed. I listen and collaborate with you to understand what you need from counselling.  Through our time together, I will incorporate skills from a variety of approaches to meet your unique needs.

I use an integrative counselling approach, drawing on aspects of the following therapies:

  • Person Centered Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (Level 2 APT-Accreditation)

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

  • STEPPS (Systems training for emotional predictability & problem solving)

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

Counselling can be a place for you to deepen your understanding of yourself, your experiences and relationships. It can be challenging but a rewarding experience for many.  There are an endless number of reasons you may be considering counselling – whether you are struggling, going through changes, wanting to strengthen your relationship with yourself, or simply need someone to talk to – I invite you to reach out.
